International & English Language Programs (IELP) has an outstanding opportunity for an Assessment Coordinator (AC). The AC has responsibility for establishing assessment systems to support instructional excellence in all IELP programs, including the Campus Intensive Program (IEP), Academic English Program (AEP), Downtown Business programs, International Specialized Programs (ISP), and any other developing instructional units. These processes include designing pre- and post- assessments; creating test specifications, exams and diagnostic instruments; and maintaining student testing data and language proficiency (cut-score) requirements for all IELP programs.
The AC coordinates the creation of new tests for courses, assists teachers who need help with creation of test items, and ensures that tests align with program curricula and course learning outcomes. The AC also collects data and maintains records on student placement and academic progress, including program and course pass/fail rates and other data needed for program evaluation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
TEST ADMINISTRATION ? Prepare, implement and oversee administration of program placement tests. ? Record and maintain placement test results to facilitate student registration. ? Coordinate with the Office of Educational Assessment regarding AEP placement tests administrations. ? Move AEP students in the student database after placement test results. ? Oversee distribution of pre-tests and final exams in all IEP core courses. ? Schedule ENGL 105 final exams (AEP). ? Schedule and coordinate Versant (ENGL 105) appeals.
EXAMS & TEST BANK MAINTENANCE ? Establish and maintain a schedule for reviewing, updating, and creating exams. ? Develop test specifications for specific IEP courses. ? Create exam templates and rating rubrics. ? Regularly review IEP course test banks to identify where new tests are needed. ? Contact teachers and coordinate creation of new tests. ? Assist teachers with the writing of new tests. ? Conduct item analyses on tests.
ASSESSMENT & CURRICULUM ALIGNMENT ? Oversee alignment of testing with program and curricular goals. ? Assist the Director of Campus Programs and Campus Programs Specialist with curriculum planning and implementation. ? Attend all AEP/IEP curriculum committee and program meetings. ? As needed, attend course organizational/debrief meetings to facilitate administration of course exams and serve as an assessment resource for instructors. ? Meet with Lead Teachers to discuss assessment-related issues. ? Conduct hi-lo surveys. ? Analyze data and maintain records, including hi-low surveys and IEP program & course pass/fail rates.
ADMINISTRATIVE & OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES ? Maintain list of instructors who are eligible to rate placement tests, ENGL 105 finals, appeals, etc. ? Track raters? hours and report to Director of Campus Programs. ? Conduct rater training and recalibration sessions. ? Assist when needed with related administrative duties as needed (e.g., IEP student pre-registration). ? Consult with the MATESOL program on testing and testing research. ? Teach as needed.
The Assessment Coordinator reports to the Director of Campus Programs and work closely with the Campus Programs Specialist, who oversees the curricula for the IEP and the AEP.
The AC also provides direction, guidance, and training to approximately 60 full-time extension lecturers and 12 MATESOL graduate students in the areas of developing and rating exams and maintaining test standards.
