TOKYO--Sony Corp. (6758.TO) said Thursday that servers of a third-party vendor to which its unit, Sony Mobile Communications, outsources data management came under cybeattack, resulting in a leak of information on 400 customers in China and Taiwan.
A Sony spokeswoman said data on customer names and e-mail addresses was leaked, but credit-card and bank-account information hadn't been stolen.
The Japanese company said it is investigating the source of the attack and other matters.
Earlier Thursday, the Nikkei reported that a group believed linked with the hacker collective known as Anonymous said it stole customer information from Sony Mobile Communications.
